I got my Julep box last night at 9pm ( a tad too late to write a review) but I must admit I was very happy to receive it, as I wasn't certain how it would get here with Canada Post being on strike and all. But, it looks like there were some arrangements done to make it work and here it is, in my hands and ready for my reviewing.
Julep
is a monthly nail polish and beauty product subscription at a
reasonable price of 24.99$/month. If you sign up on the 3-month plan
(pay for three months all at once), it costs 19.99$/month.
Subscribers get to pick their choice of beauty product and nail polish
on the 20th of every month and get billed on the 27th. They are also
free to skip a month if needed. You have the opportunity to add items
in your box as well and if you add three, you get a bonus gift. Also,
you ave the opportunity to upgrade the box to get a bigger part of the
collection, or the whole collection.
This month, there were 5 polishes I really wanted in the collection and I decided to get 4 (the one I left behind reminded me of Regina from May's collection) ... that means, 3 polishes for the box, and then since I got 1 as an add-on, I decided to get two more add-ons because, free gift, duh! So I'll get to this in a bit but first I'll cover the actual box (minus the add-ons). You can get 30% off your next Julep purchase
by entering JULY30 as a coupon code. And the sweet treat this month was a "citrus
jujube" I don't remember the flavor but it was good.
First, let me mention that all polishes are 14$ (or 11.25$ for Mavens), so that's 42$ worth of nail polish for 19,99$. Not bad. I'll proceed from left to right.
First there's Tomi described as a Bermuda blue holographic jelly. You know how I love my holographic and honestly, when it's mixed with jelly, it's a match made in heaven! I really love this color. The picture does not do it justice since I took it at night with no sunlight to reflect the holographic beauty. Please do click the link for a better idea of how lovely this color is.
Then there's Fleur is described as an Evening bloom matte glitter. I thought I would like this more than I do... I mean it's alright, but it's a tad chunky for my liking. I'll see how it translates on actual nails though.. maybe it will redeem itself.
And finally there's Eunice described as an ultramarine blue shimmer. This one takes the cake. It is by far my favorite polish of them all and really looking forward to wearing it in the near future.
Ok, now, let's talk add-ons. I'll show you the first two before going to the last one and showing you my bonus items..
Let me remind you that nail polishes are worth 14$ (or 11.25$ for Mavens) and I'll tally it all up at the end.
First, there's Poppy, which cost me 4.95$ which is described as a chili pepper jelly. I've come to really appreciate jelly polishes, so when I get the opportunity to get jelly polishes, I don't hesitate to grab them. This is a great red-orange color and definitely is quite different from any red shades I own.
And, next to it is Camilla which is a grape lollipop jelly. See previous comment to know how much I like jelly polishes. This color is also out of this world! I got this one for 6.95$ since it was part of this month's collection.
Now I teamed these up together because these are all going to one of my best friends, Melissa, as I know how much she will appreciate them. The first one was purposefully purchased with my Jules points (for free) as a gift to her, the other two are duplicates for me, and I don't really need two bottles of any given color.
First, there's Francine, a seaglass iridescent chrome. This was part of the May collection. Melissa is a huge fan of greens and she had her eyes set on this color when Julep had their Best Friends promotion...unfortunately, she was unable to get it. So I decided I'd get it for her anyway. It is a really gorgeous color and I know she will absolutely love it!
Next, I got a free pink polish for sharing the best friend promotion on Best Friend Day, and this polish ended up being Mickey, which is also from the May Collection. This one is described as a pink geranium ghost iridescent; it is borderline reddish pink. Another beautiful color but no need for two of these, so Melissa will gain this color too.
And finally, my free gift this month is Laure, which was a color I put as an add-on in May. It is super gorgeous!!! But obviously, don't need two of these. It is described as a blazing red-orange stardust. Melissa, I know you're reading this, enjoy!
So that sums up my box for the month of July and if I add things up, I paid 31.89$ for a box of 8 Julep nail polishes valued at a total of 112$. Not too shabby if I do say so myself. Hope you enjoyed this month's review and as always, feel free to leave a comment or questions in the section below.
